Taupo Holiday Homes - Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing to book your holiday with Taupō Holiday Homes. Please ensure you read the information below to ensure your stay is enjoyable.

  • All bookings are accepted on the basis that you have read, understand, and agree to abide, and be bound, by the Terms and Conditions and House Rules. By agreeing to these terms, you are confirming that the nature of your visit to Taupō is for holidaying purposes.
  • By agreeing to these terms, you are confirming that your contact details will be added to our database for marketing purposes which you can opt out of at any time.
  • Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the published rates across all booking platforms, however, Taupō Holiday Homes reserves the right to correct pricing errors.
  • All holiday accommodation properties are smoke free, without exception.
  • Keys will only be issued once you have paid all accommodation/bond/booking fees.

Our office hours are 9.00am. – 5.00pm. (Monday - Friday). Closed public holidays. Outside of these hours, a duty person* is available for emergencies or urgent matters during your stay.

PAYMENT

Payment in full is due 30 days before your stay commences, this will be deducted from your credit card entered at the time of booking. Please login to your guest portal if you need to add or change credit card details.

Failure to pay in time may result in your booking being cancelled and the property being made available to others. Please ensure you have entered your credit card details and that you have sufficient funds available to complete this transaction. Cancellation charges apply (see below).

Bookings placed via INSTANT BOOK may be subject to change or cancellation if found to be in breach of the following conditions

  • Strict no party policy (large groups. Hens, stags etc)
  • Bookings longer than 90 days
  • Bookings made beyond 12 months in advance
  • Bookings for groups exceeding ‘House rules’ limits

A payment processing fee may apply to credit card payments. The rate is 3% (including GST) of the payment amount for Visa and MasterCard.

CREDIT CARD TOKENIZATION

Credit card tokenization allows for guests’ card information to be saved and may be charged for certain losses or expenses. Taupō Holiday Homes reserve the right to further charge the credit card in relation to any items as mentioned within the Terms and Conditions (this document) and/or the House Rules within the listing description and/or displayed at property.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If booking through a third-party website such as VRBO/Bookabach or Airbnb, please refer to their policies.

All cancellations must be in writing/emailed to bookings@tauporentals.co.nz – we will not accept phone cancellations. If you need to cancel a booking, please let us know as soon as possible so we may offer the property to others.

Should YOU choose to cancel the booking, our standard cancellation charges apply.

Should WE cancel the booking due to YOUR NON-PAYMENT by the due date, we have the right to cancel the booking with or without providing you notice. Under these circumstances our standard cancellation charges apply.

Standard cancellation charges:

  • 100% refund minus the $60.00 booking fee if you cancel at least 30 days before the scheduled start day.
  • Cancellation within 30 days of the scheduled start day ordinarily results in a cancellation charge amounting to 50% of the total booking charge.
  • Cancellation within 14 days of the scheduled start of stay results in a cancellation charge amounting to 100% of the total booking charge.

Any other amendments are subject to approval and may incur a $25 charge. No shows, early departures and cancellations received on the day of arrival will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellation by Owner/Manager

If, due to circumstances beyond our control, the property becomes unavailable or unfit for use, we will notify you as soon as possible and refund your money in full.

Cancellation due to illness or travel restrictions

If due to extenuating circumstances you need to cancel your booking because you are seriously ill and unable to travel you need to contact us via email as soon as possible, you can:

  • Put your reservation on hold. All rebooked reservations are subject to availability, minimum stays and new tariffs for time booked.

In the event a New Zealand Government issued travel restriction is in place, you can:

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT

Check in time is from 3.00pm and all properties must be vacated by 10.00am on departure day. Please advise our office if there is any possibility you may arrive after 9.30pm. Failure to advise us during working hours may incur a $50 call out fee for a second set of keys to be supplied and is subject to availability.

GUEST RESPONSIBILITIES

  • If we are notified of parties or illegal activity you will be evicted and are liable for any damages to the property. We have a strict no party policy (large groups, hens, stags etc.) and do not allow functions or large gatherings.
  • The guest named on the booking is responsible for the property for the duration of the booking and must take all reasonable care of the house. Respect for neighbours regarding noise and cars must be considered, we reserve the right to terminate the contract without refund if we receive complaints.
  • All guests are your responsibility so please take care and parental supervision is required for all children at all times, especially around stairs, balconies, water and fires. The holiday home is not to be used as a function venue, nor for any parties, events or activity that involve a larger number of people than stated on the maximum occupancy.
  • Please look after the home as though it was your own and if something happens, please report it ASAP so it can be repaired or replaced. For damaged items be aware that your credit card will be charged for the repair or replacement plus a 10% handling fee.
  • All properties must be left reasonably clean and tidy, ensuring all furniture and appliances are returned to where they were on arrival. You will have paid a compulsory cleaning fee which covers a general service clean. If the property requires extra cleaning, you could be charged an additional $40.00 per hour for this.
  • BBQ’s must be left clean if used, if not a $40.00 fee will be charged for cleaning.
  • ALL rubbish must be removed from throughout the property on your departure; failure to do this will result in a minimum charge of $40.00 for labour and council disposal fees. Some homes allow up to ONE bag of rubbish to be left as part of the clean fee, specific property instructions will be at the home for you.
  • The property must be left secure and safe upon your departure. Please check all windows, doors and appliances including heaters, electric blankets, elements and sockets before you leave the property.

INTERNET

Wi-Fi is provided by some properties as a service and is not to be used for excessive streaming, downloading or illegal activity. It is your responsibility to ensure that internet is used for legal and reputable purposes only. Any heavy data usage will be charged to your credit card or taken from your bond. The guest will be fully accountable for any illegal action & resulting fines, administration and reconnection costs.

OCCUPANTS

Unless otherwise previously agreed with the Agent/Property Owner, all holiday accommodation must be used for private, residential usage only and to accommodate the number of guests stated on your Booking Confirmation. Exceeding the stated number of guests will result in a termination of your Booking and you being required to vacate the Holiday Accommodation immediately without refund. Charges for additional guests will be debited to your Credit Card without further notice.

WHAT TO BRING

All premises are fully self-contained, however linen, and personal requisites are not always provided.

Unless otherwise stated on our website at www.taupoholidayhomes.co.nz you will need to bring sheets, pillowcases, towels, bathmats, tea towels etc. Whilst our holiday accommodation properties have small quantities of washing powder, detergents, soap, and toilet paper, it is expected that you will need to bring supplies depending upon your length of stay. Unless specifically identified within the online listing, properties featuring wood fires will supply firewood. Kindling & firelighters may need to be supplied by you.

ANIMALS

Animals are expressly prohibited in most of the properties. Some owners will allow pets however this must be arranged at the time of making the booking.

If you have been permitted to bring a dog, they are not allowed on any furniture including rugs and beds. The guest is responsible for the pet at all times, ensuring no pet hair or odour is left inside, all droppings are removed from the property and neighbours are not to be disrupted. All SPCA guidelines must be adhered too, vaccines and flea treatments also need to be up to date. Pets are not to be left unattended at the property. Please be respectful of the neighbours and their pets at all times.

Additional charges will apply if cleaning is required after a pet.

SMOKING

All holiday homes are strictly non-smoking. Smoking is permitted outside but please ensure you remove all butts. If you do smoke inside there will be a charge of $150.00 to remove the odour.

COOKING

We kindly ask that you do not cook food items that leave a strong and unpleasant odour in the home. If there is excessive cooking odour left upon your departure you will be charged $150 for professional odour removal.

HOLIDAY HOMES FEATURES

Any properties that provide kayaks, bicycles, spa pools and/or swimming pools are to be used at your own risk. Taupo Realty Services Limited accepts no responsibility for any injury or loss to any Guest or their belongings.

BODYCORP

All body corporate regulations must be strictly adhered to when staying in a body corporate complex.

BREACH OF RULES:

Eviction from the property, a fine of up to $500 and the full cover of costs may be incurred if any of the following rules are breached:

  • Maximum number of occupants at the property is exceeded.
  • Tents, caravans or RV’s are used during your stay and exceed occupancy.
  • Tampering or removal of smoke alarms from the property.
  • Any fire, smoke, or flood damage caused to the property due to negligence.
  • Leaving any appliances (including electric blankets and heaters) or fires on and unattended during your stay, or upon departure.
  • Booking under another person’s name who does not intend to be at the property.
  • Any use of illegal substances of illegal activities during your stay.
  • Copying any keys or remotes of the property.
  • Bringing any pets or animals on to the property without prior authorisation
  • Any undue disturbance, verbal or physical abuse of staff, owners or neighbours.

Taupo Realty Services Ltd reserve the right to further charge the credit card in relation to the following:

  • Additional cleaning and/or putting away of furniture, crockery, cutlery pots, pans etc. (at cost + 10%)
  • Cleaning of owners linen not included in the rental (at cost + 10%)
  • Removal of excess rubbish, boxes, bottles etc. (at cost +10%, minimum charge $40)
  • Damages/ breakages to the property (at cost + 10%)
  • Cleaning fee for unclean BBQs $40.00
  • After hours key lock out $50.00
  • Replacement of lost keys, remote controls (at cost +10%)
  • Any other incidental charges that may be incurred as per our Terms and Conditions which shall be deemed to form part of this agreement
